Artist's Bio

Expression is really a search for life's patterns and purpose.  By freezing moments in time with a visual medium, I am better able to discover and investigate fascinating natural patterns while savoring these fleeting aspects of nature's grandeur.  So far it seems to me that life's purpose is woven through the elation of discovery and the act of expression.

I have exhibited my work through out southern Connecticut for the past twenty years. After completing dozens of commissioned botanical illustrations and landscapes renderings for local garden centers and magazines, I have expanded my skills by creating several zoological and botanical murals for local nature centers and a variety of businesses in the area.  Landscapes done in vibrant oils have also been an exciting avenue of expression for me.

After studying art at the University of Connecticut, I then received my Bachelors in Art Education from Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven. I have also completed several graduate courses in scientific illustration and biology at Southern Connecticut and the University of New Haven.  Currently, I am finishing my Masters degree with a concentration in the fine arts and natural science studies at Wesleyan University in Middletown.

I have taught art for 15 years in grade school, public high school and adult education, while exhibiting my own work on the side. Finally, I'm able to work out of my new studio in West Haven and am a full time professional artist.  As a member of The Guild of Scientific Illustrators, the American Botanical Illustrators Society and the Connecticut Botanical Society, I exhibit widely and work hard to stay current with modern trends.

Working from nature is and always has been my passion.
