Daffodil

watercolor, 16"x22"

Narcissus, joquilla is this type of daffodils.  It is solid yellow with a pronounced trumpet and two or more flowers from the same bulb.  These flowers were once much smaller than we are used to in today's gardens. This particular type, when it was an original wild species, grew in Spain and Portugal.  The Dutch are famous for transporting many types of bulbs and hybridizing them for marketing, but none were ever originally from Holland.  Narcissus is the genius name for all daffodils and joquilla is the species name of this particular wild version.

The cultivar that I used as a specimen for this painting from is called Golden Harvest.

All watercolors may be purchased as an original painting, or as a Giclee Print in a variety of  sizes.  For further viewing, purchase, or commissions, please contact me at: clgilbane@gmail.com
