Cigar Jellyfish

Olindias phosphorica

A member of the Cnidarian family, the sting of the Cigar Jelly isn't that bad. It is a small jellyfish whose bell area averages between 4-5 centimeters. During the daylight, the tentacles usually retract up into its body but while feeding at night tentacles can extend up to 10 meters or so to feed on nocturnal zooplankton. Though the bell area is transparent, both the gonads that dangle around its edge and the feeding arms that extend from the digestive tube are opaque and can show several colors ranging from blue to brown and yellow.
