The more I observe nature the closer I want to examine it. When zooming in on a flower or plant, more and more structure and details become evident. Texture, form and high contrast are the elements I aim for in my paintings. Balancing sharp, focused detail with strong structural accuracy is an addictive challenge for me, not to forget the range of color nature never fails to supply. I work large to bring these organic designs and fresh colors closer to the viewer.
Having exhibited my work throughout New England, I have painted illustrations for regional nature museums and have completed dozens of commissions for businesses, local magazines and private collectors. Currently, I am focusing on my Zoom-In paintings and children's illustrations. In addition, I am teaching my techniques to the public for the Connecticut Natural Science Illustrators collaborating with the Yale-Peabody Museum at their West Campus facility in Orange, Connecticut.
